GV-1 settings on the Futaba T12ZH
I'm now running the T12ZH radio, so I figured I'd update these settings/instructions. When I was running the 8U radio, in order to auto-rotate in I had to turn off the governor with switch D. This is one more thing to remember if there's some sort of problem (mainly a tail rotor problem in flight). For the last couple weeks I used the 8U radio I switched the governor on-off switch to the throttle hold switch. This way when I hit the hold switch it turned off the GV-1 automatically. Only problem with that setup was the spool up. The clutch on the GPH grabs so late (high rpm) that when the blades barely started turning, the governor took control of the throttle and spooled up real fast. This resulted in the heli spinning on the ground about a half turn.
On the T12ZH I solved this by not governing the Norm mode. This is basically my spool up mode now. This was done by moving the governor on-off switch to the idle-up switch. OFF in Norm, ON in Idle-1 and ON in Idle-2. This is done in the "GOVERNOR" settings on the radio. I also synchronized the radio to the GV-1 and switched to "rpm" mode instead of "%". This is cool because I can set the rpm for Idle-1 and Idle-2 on the radio, not on the heli (GV-1). I set Idle-1 to 1,600 and Idle-2 to 1,700. I did not set a fine tune control for the governor since I don't see a need for it.
